Box Score

BOSTON - Sophomore Vinny Duplessis stopped all 27 shots he faced for his second career shutout as he helped lead the No. 19 Boston University men's ice hockey team to a 4-0 win over Maine on Friday night at Agganis Arena.

Making his first start in front of an Agganis Arena crowd, Duplessis made 15 of his 27 saves in the third period to preserve the shutout.

Offensively, junior Robert Mastrosimone tallied two goals and assisted on junior Wilmer Skoog's lacrosse goal for a three-point night while senior captain Logan Cockerill's first-period goal stood as the game-winner. Eight different Terriers recorded an assist, with sophomore Luke Tuch and junior Case McCarthy providing the helpers on Cockerill's winner. Mastrosimone, seniors Ty Amonte and Joseph Campolieto, juniors Domenick Fensore and Matt Brown, and graduate student Max Kaufman also had one assist apiece.

BU (14-10-3, 10-6-3 HE) improved to 10-1-1 in its last 12 games thanks to its third straight victory over Maine (4-15-2, 2-11-2). The Terriers have now recorded at least one point in their last 13 Hockey East contests.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Cockerill opened the scoring just 1:47 into the proceedings on the Terriers' first power play of the game. With Tuch and Cockerill stationed in front of the net, McCarthy fired the puck towards goal. Tuch got the first touch on it before Cockerill knocked it home for his fourth goal of the season.

- Skoog then wowed the crowd with his second-ever lacrosse goal at 11:49 of the second stanza to give the Terriers' a 2-0 lead.

- The Terriers dominated the second stanza, outshooting the Black Bears, 26-3, in that 20-minute stretch.

- Mastrosimone scored both of his goals in the middle frame, with his first coming at the 5:21 mark when he knocked home a rebound off a Kaufman shot.

- Just over five minutes later, Mastrosimone closed the scoring with a terrific redirection of a Fensore shot.

- Maine pushed for a goal in the third period, outshooting BU, 15-4, but Duplessis and the Terrier defense kept the Black Bears off the board.
