CANTON, N.Y. - Four different Wildcats found the back of the net and freshman goalie Tyler Muszelik (Long Valley, N.J.) earned the win in his debut in net as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team defeated St. Lawrence, 4-1, on Saturday evening in non-conference action at Appleton Arena.

The Wildcats start the season 2-0-0, while SLU falls to 1-2-0.

Freshman forward Morgan Winters (Osprey, Fla.), sophomore forward Robert Cronin (Plymouth, Mass.), sophomore forward Liam Devlin (Needham, Mass.) and freshman defenseman Damien Carfagna (Wood-Ridge, N.J.) each scored for UNH.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- At 7:26 of the first period, the Wildcats took a 1-0 lead when Winters netted his first collegiate goal as he tipped in a shot by sophomore defenseman Colton Huard (Foothill Ranch, Calif.). Junior forward Nick Cafarelli (Middleton, Mass.) also posted an assist on the goal.

- SLU tied the game at 1-1 at 19:33 of the first period when Cameron Buhl sent a wrist shot from the top of the slot that deflected off a UNH defender to the back of the net for the power play goal.

- The Wildcats moved out to a 2-1 advantage when Devlin sent Cronin on a breakaway. Cronin then scored on a backhander stick side at 9:21 of the second period while on the power play.

- Just 33 seconds after the opening faceoff of the third period, senior captain forward Chase Stevenson (West Kelowna, British Columbia) stole the puck and skated down the ice before he sent a pass to Devlin who fired a one timer to the upper stick side of the net to make it a 3-1 contest.

- Then just 42 seconds later, Carfagna netted his first collegiate goal when his shot from the point found the back of the net to give UNH a 4-1 lead. The goal was assisted by senior forward Ryan Black (Pomfret, Conn.).


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Muszelik made his collegiate debut and posted 31 saves to earn the win, while Emil Zetterquist made 20 saves for SLU.

- St. Lawrence outshot UNH by a 32-24 margin.

- The Wildcats went 1-3 on the power play and SLU went 1-6.


BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

- This was the 13th time in program history that the Wildcats played on the road at Clarkson and St. Lawrence in back-to-back games. The is the fourth time UNH has swept these two road games. The Wildcats also swept Clarkson and St. Lawrence on the road on Dec. 10-11, 1999; Jan. 10-11, 1984; and Feb. 2-3, 1979.

- UNH is now 32-18-1 all-time versus St. Lawrence.

- Winters and Carfagna each scored their first collegiate goal.

- The game winner by Cronin was the first of his career.
