STORRS, Conn. - The UConn Huskies dominated The Ohio State Buckeyes Saturday afternoon to improve to 5-0-1 on the season for the programs best start in team history. Graduate Student Ty Amonte finished with two goals, while freshman Matthew Wood finished with one goal and two assists.

From first puck drop UConn would attack the Ohio State defense firing shots at the Buckeyes goaltender, looking for any rebound opportunities. UConn would have the first opportunity of the match when a high sticking penalty by Ohio State would give UConn the man advantage in the first period. As the penalty would end, Andrew Lucas would circle the net and find freshman Matthew Wood who would fire the one timer right past the goaltender to give the Huskies the 1-0 lead. Shortly after, Ohio State would respond with a goal of there own from Kamil Sadlocha to tie the game before the period break.

The second period would be all Huskies, as they would continue to pressure the Ohio State defense and would capitalize off mistakes. UConn would take the lead early in the second period when Matthew Wood would fight off the defender to fire a shot on goal. The Buckeye's goaltender would make the save, but the puck would find Ty Amonte right in front of the net who would score to give UConn the 2-1 lead. From there, the Huskies would not look back, as Ryan Tverberg would take a pass and make a beautiful move to beat Jakub Dobes to give the Huskies the two-goal lead.

The third period would begin and just one minute into the period Jake Percival would be in the right place at the right time to poke the puck through the goaltenders' legs off a rebound from Hudson Schandor's shot. UConn would not take their foot off the gas as Ty Amonte would net his second of the match followed by a one timer from Jake Flynn. Freshman Arsenii Sergeev would make 28 saves and hold the Buckeyes to one goal as UConn would come away with the win by a final of 6-1.

With the win, UConn improves to 5-0-1 on the season, their best start in program history. Up next for the Huskies will be a two-game series against Boston University in Boston.
