North Andover, Mass. - The UConn Huskies took down No.12 Merrimack College Tuesday night by a final of 3-1. Freshman Samu Salminen, Jake Percival and junior Nick Capone were the goal scorers for the Huskies.

Merrimack got on the board first midway through the first period as Alex Jefferies of the Warriors was left alone in the slot and was able to sneak it past freshman goaltender Arsenii Sergeev. The Huskies prevented further damage holding Merrimack 0-2 on the power play in the first period. Both teams would head into the period break having eight shots on goal.

UConn did not wait long to find the equalizer as Hudson Schandor would find Samu Salminen on a broken play who fired the puck past Hugo Ollas for the goal. UConn and Merrimack would battle the rest of the period as both netminders made key saves to prevent the other team from taking the lead. UConn and Merrimack entered the period break tied up at 1, with the Huskies having one minute remaining on a power play.

UConn took the lead six minutes into the start of the third period as freshman Jake Percival crashed the net and found the loose puck netting the goal and giving UConn the 2-1 lead. Nick Capone added insurance late in the third period for the Huskies, as he would take the puck in the slot and spin and fire it past the netminder for the goal. The two-goal lead was enough, as UConn came away with the victory.

Merrimack outshot UConn 29-27, while UConn went 2-3 on the Power Play. Freshman Arsenii Sergeev finished with 28 saves to improve to 6-1-1 on the year.
