BOSTON, Mass. - Graduate student Alina Mueller posted three-assists to lead the No. 7 Northeastern women's hockey team to a 5-1 victory over the No. 13 Vermont Catamounts on Saturday at Matthews Arena. The Huskies close out 2022 on a six-game win streak, with four of those wins coming over ranked opponents.
Senior Katy Knoll, Mueller, graduate student Chloé Aurard and junior Lily Yovetich all posted multi-point games for the Huskies. Yovetich's multi-point effort was the first of her career.
- Northeastern opened the first frame with two power-play goals. Aurard potted the first just a minute and 29 seconds into the contest, with an assist from Mueller.
- Knoll doubled up the Huskies' lead, getting her 14th of the year. Mueller and Aurard tallied the assists.
- Vermont was able to find the back of the net to cut the deficit to 2-1. Graduate student Maureen Murphy brought the Husky lead back to go off a give-and-go feed from Mueller. Yovetich picked up a secondary assist on the goal.
- In the third frame, Knoll tallied her second of the night to push the lead to 4-1, with assists from senior Megan Carter and Yovetich.
- Graduate student Mia Brown then closed out the scoring with a goal with just .4 seconds left on the clock to bring the final to 5-1.
- Senior netminder Gwyneth Philips made 18 saves in her NCAA-best 18th win of the season. Junior Tory Mariano led all Huskies with four blocks.
Northeastern is back in action next in 2023 with a matchup against Boston University on Sunday, Jan. 8 at 3 p.m. in Matthews Arena.
