Maine Skates to 1-1 Draw Against Colgate

Box Score

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The University of Maine men's ice hockey team tied the Colgate University Raiders, 1-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Class of 1965 Arena.

First Goal (1-0 Maine): Didrik Henbrant scored the first goal of the non-conference series finale 3:09 into the second period. Dawson Bruneski, returning to lineup, carried the puck from the Maine end, through the neutral, to the goal mouth before flipping it over to Henbrant. The transfer had a wide-open net and did not miss his opportunity. Maine held a 1-0 lead early in the second period.

Second Goal (1-1): As their fourth power play opportunity expired, Alex Young tied the Saturday afternoon game. The goal, for a lack of a better term, 'popped the bottle'. Connor Androlewicz tried to make his way across the crease while also staying as tall as possible. The puck, traveling at a high rate of speed, found its way just under the crossbar and into the net.

The third and overtime period were played to scoreless ties. ECAC rules state that any game, no matter the opponent, tied after the five-minute overtime period will be settled via shootout. Colgate won the shootout 3-1. The game ends in a 1-1 tie with the Raiders earning the extra point.

Notes: Connor Androlewicz saved 17 shots in net for the Black Bears, while Carter Gylander stopped 28 shots between the pipes for Colgate.

Maine went 0 for 2 on the power play, as the Raiders were 1-5 on its player advantages.

Next: The Black Bears return to the ice Friday, January 6 at home. Puck drop against Alaska Anchorage is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
