NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The Merrimack Warriors Women's Ice Hockey team were victorious in the shootout, earning the extra point out of the tie against the University of New Hampshire on senior day 2023.

Sophie McKinley started the Warriors off hot, as her goal got the Warriors lead just under three minutes into the contest.

UNH would score tie the score and take the lead with two goals before the end of the first period. Merrimack would tie the game up at two as Teghan Inglis would find the net on a long range effort at 12:35 of the period.

UNH would get the lead back just minutes later, however the Warriors were undeterred as Emily Oosterveld would take the great pass and finish beautifully to tie the game at three which would be the score after both forty minute and sixty minute mark.

In overtime, both teams would have their chances to win in the game, but Sam Lessick's solo effort was turned wide, and midway through the frame, Emma Gorski made a fantastic right to left save to keep the game going.

In the shootout, Alexa Pongo would score the lone shootout goal on a nifty toe drag and Emma Gorski would stone all three New Hampshire shooters cold to lock up the shootout win. Postgame, the Warriors would honor their 2023 Senior Class, #6 Sam Lessick, #10 Katie Kaufman, #13 Madison Oelkers, #29 Nicole Martin, and #31 Emma Gorski.

- Sophie McKinley had the other goal for the Warriors.

- Natalie Nemes, Payten Evans and Sarah Hirst all had assists, and for Hirst it's her first ever collegiate point.
