CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - No. 4 Boston College scored four unanswered goals and came back to beat Long Island 4-2 on Friday night in front of more than 7,300 fans in its home opener at an electric Kelley Rink.

The Eagles won the shot battle 38-12 and improved to 2-0-0, while the Sharks fell to 0-3-0 following the first meeting in series history. 11 different players had at least one point in the win.

LIU led 2-0 within the first nine minutes on goals from Remy Parker and Valtteri Piironen, but graduate transfer Jack Malone put BC on the board with his first goal as an Eagle at 12:09. Malone took a drop pass from Andre Gasseau and ripped a shot high blocker side to beat Brandon Perrone from the slot.

Rookie defenseman Drew Fortescue pulled Boston College level just over a minute later, wristing a shot into the top right corner from the left wing for his first collegiate goal.

BC took its first lead midway through the second period when Gasseau took a cross-ice pass from freshman Will Smith on the power play and picked the short side high from the left circle.

Gasseau's classmate Oskar Jellvik added a fourth at the 13:09 mark, going top shelf from the slot on a centering feed from rookie Aram Minnetian.

Jacob Fowler stopped 10 of the 12 shots he faced to improve to 2-0-0 in net as BC held LIU to just five shots over the final 40 minutes.

BC went 4-for-4 on the penalty kill, improving to 11-for-11 on the young season.

Boston College hosts RPI next Friday and third-ranked Denver next Saturday on the Heights to continue a six-game homestand.
