Tempe, A.Z.-The Merrimack Warriors Men's hockey team were sunk by a Arizona State overtime goal to drop their season opener by a score of 1-0 on Friday night.

In the first period, Zachary Borgiel made eight saves and the Warriors nearly doubled up the Sun Devils on shots but the game remained scoreless through one.

The Warriors had a few powerplays in the second period but weren't able to score as the game entered the third.

The third period played out the same as the first two as the game headed into overtime at a 0-0 tie.

Arizona State scored 2 minutes and 24 seconds into the overtime period to win the game for the Warriors.
