Box Score - Highlights

BOSTON - Sophomore Quinn Hutson recorded his first collegiate hat trick as part of a career-best four-point night to lead the No. 9/8 Boston University men's ice hockey team to a 6-1 win over UMass Lowell on Saturday night at Agganis Arena.

BU (6-3-1, 3-1-1 HE) completed a weekend sweep of UMass Lowell (4-6-0, 1-5-0 HE) thanks to four points apiece from Hutson and freshman Macklin Celebrini, who recorded a career-high four assists, including three primary helpers. Graduate student Sam Stevens and sophomore Lane Hutson both lit the lamp while junior Jack Hughes closed out the win with his first goal as a Terrier.

Sophomore Tom Willander tallied a career-best two assists and senior Luke Tuch recorded his second consecutive two-assist contest of the weekend. Freshman Doug Grimes got his first collegiate point with the primary assist on Stevens' goal while graduate student Case McCarthy and sophomore Ryan Greene added one helper apiece. Junior goaltender Mathieu Caron capped a fantastic weekend with a 28-save performance.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Stevens opened the scoring just 7:46 into the proceedings. With UMass Lowell in the middle of a line change, Willander sent an outlet pass tape-to-tape to Grimes at the UML blue line. Grimes gained the zone and found a wide-open Stevens skating down the middle of the zone. Stevens collected the pass and slid it through the five-hole of Luke Pavicich (25 saves) for his first goal of the season.

- Quinn Hutson extended the lead to 2-0 just 48 seconds later. Tuch gathered the puck at his own blue line and chipped it off the wall to Celebrini, who dodged a check and created a 2-on-1 with Hutson in the UML zone. Celebrini held the puck until the last possible moment before sliding it through a defender's legs and onto the tape of Hutson, who one-touched it past Pavicich.

- Lane followed his brother's goal with one of his own at 9:26 of the second stanza. With BU on a 5-on-3, he took a pass from Celebrini in the right faceoff circle, skated to the slot and uncorked a shot past Pavicich.

- Quinn's second goal of the game came at 6:12 of the final frame. Willander once again pushed transition with an outlet pass to Celebrini in the middle of the neutral zone. Celebrini gained the line and skated through two defenders before dishing to a wide-open Hutson.

- Hutson completed his hat trick at 12:24 of the third with a slick redirection of a McCarthy shot from the top of the zone.

- Adam Cardona negated the shutout with a goal just 26 seconds after Hutson's final strike of the night.

- Hughes closed the scoring with 1:56 to play. Tuch drove to the net and backed down a defender before turning and firing a cross-crease pass to Hughes at the left post. Hughes collected the puck and backhanded past Pavicich.
