STORRS, Conn. - Freshman Jacob Fowler made 31 saves for his first collegiate shutout and third-ranked Boston College earned a weekend sweep of UConn with a 3-0 victory at the Toscano Family Ice Forum on Saturday night to close a Hockey East home-and-home series.

Fowler and the Eagles improved to 9-2-1 (4-1-1 HEA) following a five-point weekend against the Huskies (5-8-1, 3-5-0 HEA).

Boston College took the lead four minutes into the contest when Gabe Perreault blocked a shot at the point and skated down ice on a 2-on-0 with Will Smith. The linemates traded passes before Perreault finally deferred to Smith at the right post to beat Ethan Haider. Perreault (10 games) and Smith (six games) both extended their point streaks on the opening goal.

Late in the period, Fowler reached out with his blocker to deny Tabor Heaslip on a shorthanded breakaway to preserve the lead. Fowler posted 17 of his 31 saves in the opening frame.

It remained 1-0 until three and a half minutes remained in the third period when Gauthier weaved through neutral ice and deked into the slot before firing a shot glove side to beat Haider. Jamie Armstrong and Aidan Hreschuk collected the assists on Gauthier's 11th of the season.

UConn pulled Haider for an extra skater with 3:20 remaining and Oskar Jellvik backhanded a shot into the empty net from neutral ice to seal the win. Ryan Leonard blocked a shot to start the play, extending his point streak to six games with the assist.

Boston College travels to Notre Dame on Black Friday for a matchup with the Fighting Irish at 4 p.m. The Eagles then face Harvard on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. on the road.
