Box Score

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -rNo. 2 Boston College men's hockey jumped all over visiting Merrimack in a 6-2 win at Kelley Rink on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles, who scored three times in the game's first eight minutes, improved to 16-4-1 overall and 9-3-1 in Hockey East.

Following a scoreless-first period on Friday, BC needed all of 35 seconds to light the lamp as junior defender Aidan Hreschuk (Long Beach, Calif.) tucked the puck into the net. Less than three minutes later The Eagles doubled their lead as graduate Jack Malone (Spring Lake, N.J.) gathered the puck behind the net and curled around to score.

Pushing the tempo, freshman Gabe Perreault (Hinsdale, Ill.) took the puck one-on-one and scored BC's third goal of the first period. In the second, Malone carried the puck the length of the ice in a 3-on-3 and scored on a shot from inside the circle, after Hreschuk won a faceoff in the Eagles' defensive zone.

Boston College put in two more goals in the third period as freshman Will Smith (Lexington, Mass.) scored early in the frame on a play started by Perreault forcing a turnover in the neutral zone. Sophomore Andre Gasseau (Garden Grove, Calif.) capped the scoring with his sixth of the year and second of the weekend series.

Freshman goalie Jacob Fowler (Melbourne, Fla.) needed just 22 saves to earn the win. Hugo Ollas stopped 35 shots for the Warriors. Filip Forsmark scored both goals for Merrimack.
