Women's Weekly Release: Holy Cross Sets Program Wins Record as UConn Sweeps

HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

Vermont secured five points in league play in two road games against Merrimack, led by three goals from Oona Havana. She scored the game-winning goal in Friday’s 4-1 win as part of a two-goal game while defender Josie Hemp had a goal and primary as- sist in the third period of a 3-3 tie on Saturday. Saturday’s tiled was played at Boston College’s Conte Forum after a water main break forced the game off of Merrimack’s campus.

Northeastern enters its Beanpot title defense off a 5-2 win at Providence. Rookie forward Stryker Zablocki scored a hat trick as part of a four-point night in the victory.

Holy Cross earned a program-record seventh win in Hockey East play with a 3-1 victory over Boston College on Friday. The Crusaders were backboned by Brooke Loranger, who made 29 saves. The win vaulted Holy Cross into third place, above Boston College, in the league standings.

UConn swept Maine to retain its hold on second place in the Army ROTC Hockey East Standings, sitting six points ahead of Holy Cross and seven back of Northeastern.

The Women’s Beanpot returns to Walter Brown Arena tonight as Boston College and Harvard drop the puck at 4:30 p.m. before host Boston University squares off with Harvard at 7:30 p.m. Both games can be seen on NESN and NESN+. Oona Havana - Vermont

Oona Havana (So., F; Turku, Finland) posted three goals on five total shots in a 1-0-1 road series with Merrimack. In Friday’s 4-1 victory, she had the first two-goal game of her career, including the game-winning strike. In Saturday’s 3-3 draw, she scored a power-play goal to knot the game at one.


PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Stryker Zablocki - Northeastern

Stryker Zablocki (Fr., F; Prince Albert, Sask.) posted her first career four-point game and second career hat trick to guide Northeastern to a 5-2 win at Providence. Zablocki is the first Husky rookie since Katy Knoll in 2019-20 to record four points in a single game.

Josie Hemp - Vermont

Josie Hemp (So., D; Chanhassen, Minn.) played a crucial role in Vermont’s come-from-behind 3-3 tie with Merrimack on Saturday, registering a goal and a primary an assist in the third period to force overtime. She put nine shots on goal and blocked one shot in a 1-0-1 weekend, pushing Vermont to five of six league points.

Brooke Loranger - Holy Cross

Brooke Loranger (Sr., G; Niagara on the Lake, Ont.) earned her fifth win of the year with 29 saves in a 3-1 win over Boston College. She moved 5-2-0 on the season with a 1.44 goals against average and a .935 save percentage.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

Sydney Healey, BU (Sr., F; Arthur, Ont.) Netted the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory at UNH and now leads BU in goals (11), assists (7), and points (18). It was her third game-winning goal of the year.

Maeve Kelly, BU (Sr., D; Victoria, Minn.) Blocked one shot and was a plus-one in a 2-1 win over UNH.

Michelle Pasiechnyk, BU (Gr., G; Ottawa, Ont.) Made 25 saves and allowed just one goal in a 2-1 victory over UNH, her third win of the season.

Megan Woodworth, UConn (Sr., F; Berwick, N.S.) Accounted for a goal and two assists to help UConn to a weekend sweep at Maine. In Friday’s 2-1 win, Woodworth scored the game’s opening goal and later assisted the game-winning goal while blocking three shots. On Saturday, she found the back of the net consecutive games, scoring her ninth goal of the season.

Emily Crovo, HC (Jr., F; Melrose, Mass.) Tallied one goal and one assist during a 3-1 victory over Boston College on Friday. Her goal gave the Crusaders a 1-0 lead in the first period before she set up the a third-period power-play goal for insurance. She now has 11 points this season on three goals and eight assists while Holy Cross set a program record with its seventh Hockey East victory of the year.

Naemi Herzig, HC (Fr., F; St. Gallen, Switzerland) Dished out two assists in a 3-1 victory over Boston College, including on Alexia Moreau’s game-winning goal. She ranks second on the team in scoring with 18 points on six goals and 12 assists.

Isabelle Michaud, Maine (Fr., F; Drummond, N.B.) Scored one goal and finished with a plus-one rating in a pair of setbacks to No. 5 UConn.

Kelly Harty, UNH (Sr., F; Billerica, Mass.) Scored the lone tally for the Wildcats in a 2-1 loss to BU, earning her team-leading 12th goal and sixth goal in the past seven games.

Sedona Blair, UNH (Jr., G; Eden Prairie, Minn.) Stopped 31 of 33 shots she faced in a 2-1 setback to BU.

Rylie Jones, NU (Jr., D; North Chelmsford, Mass.) Tied her career-high with two assists in a 5-2 victory at Providence. Jones also added in three blocks to tie to lead all Huskies.

Sarah Davies, PC (Sr., F; Missassauga, Ont.) Found the back of the net and added a block in a 5-2 setback to No. 6 Northeastern. She also won 13 of 23 faceoffs.

Cristina Cavaliere, PC (Sr., D; Missassauga, Ont.) Had one assist and a blocked shot against No. 6 Northeastern, a 5-2 setback.

Zoe Cliche, UVM (Fr., G; Ottawa, Ont.) Helped UVM secure five conference points in a two-game road weekend series with Merrimack. Overall, she made 39 saves on 43 shots faced and did not allow a single five-on- five goal.
